Bike Trail  

at your front door. Countless miles of trails right off the driveway of the resort. Black topped and smooth, Paul Bunyan Trail is perfect for biking, roller blading, walking or what ever you may fancy. Cruise the trails or take a trip to Walker to explore the many specialty shops or enjoy a luncheon outing. For winter the Paul Bunyan Trail is your gateway to hours of snowmobiling fun. Deep Portage Conservation Reserve

A place where community, education and the environment come together. Located on ten square miles and open year round, Deep Portage is home to hiking trails, an interpretive center and educational programs.

Eel Pout Festival

Leech Lake is home to the only international eel pout festival in the nation. Come witness the village that forms on the ice as Walker Bay is lit up with thousands of fish houses. The festival is complete with polar plunge, foot, snowmobile and auto races, and a mutlitude of vendors. Held the second weekend in February.

Itasca State Park - Cross the headwaters of the Mississippi River right here in Minnesota's oldest state park. Enjoy a bike ride on the trails, and marvel at the over 32,000 acres and more then 100 lakes that encompass this park. Approx. distance from HBR - 35 miles.

Moondance Jam - The largest outdoor festival in northern Minnesota, Moondance Jam is a four day classic rock festivals celebrated in mid July. Previously featured bands include Lynard Skynard, Journey, Def Leppard, Steve Miller, Ted Nugent and Credence Clearwater Revisited. Fair grounds also contain four regulation softball fields, the Moondance Saloon and Grill and the new Lazy Moon Backstage Bar.  2007 also marked the start of a new annual concert festival, Jammin Country held in mid June.  Previously featured bands at this festival include Dierks Bentley, Big & Rich with Cowboy Troy, Terri Clark, Lonestar, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Wood Tick Theatre – Music shows four nights a week, offering a variety of music including blue grass, country, folk, and gospel. Approx. distance from HBR - 19 miles.

 

Forestedge Winery – Offering light and dry wines from the fruits and berries of the North Country.  Visitors are treated to complimentary wine tasting, winery tours, and an outside Bistro area to enjoy the beautiful Northwoods in a relaxing atmosphere. Approx. distance from HBR - 13 miles.

 

Casinos – The Northern Lights Casino and the Palace Casino are both located within 20 miles of the resort.

 

Restaurants & Shops - There are several unique restaurants and specialty shops located in Walker area.

Shingobee (Winter) A great sliding hill overlooking the rolling Chippewa National Forest, complete with a chalet. Surrounding the hill is a network of breath taking cross-country skiing trails that wind through hills and creeks adorned with evergreens. Approx. distance from HBR - 10 miles.
